Solar Panels
High efficiency single crystal silicon solar cells. The
cells are "antireflected" coated for improved efficiency.
The cells are designed to deliver peak current under
difficult charging conditions such as hot temperatures or
overcast skies, and also provide greater area efficiency.
The solar panels are sized for continuous operation.
Solar Tilt and Rotate--The S.T.A.R. System
Operates independently of the direction of the sign panel or
trailer. The solar array is capable of rotating 360 degrees
and can be locked in any position. Solar panels are located
at the highest point of the sign and tilt from 0 to 40
degrees. This feature optimizes free energy from the sun and
also allows the solar panel to self clean.
Gull Wing
Enclosure made of polyethylene, high impact, anti-slip
texture, rodent proof, rust proof.
Allows easy access and is lockable.
Characters/Visibility
The message sign panel is legible from 1,200 feet in day and
night conditions. An automatic intensity control system
consisting of a photocell adjusts the light source to
maintain legibility under all ambient lighting conditions.
The message sign panel is capable of presenting 3 lines of
message copy, each comprised of 8 characters in various
alpha, numeric, and alpha-numeric combinations. Matrix
configuration consists of 35 pixels per character in a 5
pixel by 7 pixel format.
Character height: a true 18 inches; width: 12.5 inches. Line
spacing: 5 inches from adjacent line; Horizontal character
separation: 4.25 inches.
For the best contrast ratio, display legibility, and
environmental protection, sign hardware and character PCB is
finished with a UV protected epoxy. In conjunction with the
seven degree angle case is our Eclipse System.
Power System
The entire message display system shall operate from
solar/battery or utility power of 120VAC.
To optimize performance of pure uninterrupted solar
operation, ADDCO will adjust the solar/battery arrangement
to meet load demands versus weather conditions.
At minimum, the solar panel array will be designed to yield
11% more charge (energy) than sign consumption, optimizing
life expectancy of the battery bank and minimizing user
service for battery charging.
On-board system charger will recharge completely discharged
sign batteries in 24 hours.
Batteries
Trojan Heavy duty deep cycle 6 volt DC, 225 amp-hour
batteries wired to provide 12 volts.
Multi Rib Separator technology means: Less negative plate
expansion, low water usage and reduced positive shedding.
This battery system lasts longer and is more profitable to
operate.
Mounting and Transporting Equipment
Tubular steel, powder coat paint, scratch resistant, long
lasting.
Hitch: 6,000 lb GVWR capacity with 1-7/8 and 2 multi-fit
ball coupler.
Jacks: Four, 2000 lb. capacity leveling jacks with crank
type swivel.
Lighting: Complete lighting to standard highway
specifications.
Axle: Torsion 3,500 Lb. ground clearance 10.25".
Brakes: Hydraulic surge or electric
